Computer is not Going to Sleep Mode on Windows 7 – how can I fix it?

The three major reasons behind your WINDOWS 7’s SLEEP MODE improper functionality are DRIVERS that need to updated, problems with your POWER OPTION settings and DEVICES that interrupt the sleep mode of your computer.

To update the DRIVERS to the latest version, use Windows update or check your hardware manufacturer’s website which automatically recommends DRIVERS and updates for your hardware. Make sure that you have the most current drivers for all your hardware devices, specifically the driver for your video card.

Now, check your POWER OPTION settings. Click on Start and type POWER SLEEP on its search box. When you CLICK on it, there are various options available. Click to select ‘Change when the computer sleeps’.

When ‘Put computer to sleep box’ opens you have to re-select timings and other things, for example 10 minutes, moreover you have to make sure that you do not select NEVER. After the completion of above steps CLICK on CHANGE ‘advanced power settings’.

To prevent programs from disrupting the ‘Sleep Mode’, select EXPAND Sleep, EXPAND allow wake timers and finally select Disable. But if you have to change this and let your computer sleep even during the exchange of media libraries, ‘Enable’ EXPAND for ‘Multimedia Setting’ and ‘When Sharing Media’ and then select the ‘Sleep Mode’.

To DISABLE DEVICES, follow the following steps. Go to START and type CMD in its search box to start an elevated command prompt, click on right to select CMD and finally on ‘Run as Administrator’. You can now view the devices that interrupt the sleep mode and for that, run the following command (Powercfg -devicequery wake_armed). Disable a specific device from waking the computer, by using (Powercfg -devicedisablewake “device’s name”). You will have to disable devices one by one to determine the exact device causing issue. To re-enable a device to wake the computer, run the following command (Powercfg -deviceenablewake “device’s name”).

You can also use Device Manager to disable or enable a device to wake the computer. To proceed with this, choose START, type DEVICE MANAGER in the Search box, and then click select it. Locate the device that you want and to disable or to enable double click on it.
We trust this information will help you with solving the issue.
